[laptop-mode] about load/unload of hard disk of thinkpad t43

my system is gentoo.
my computer is thinkpad t43.
I do not use ATA in kernel config .
T43's hard disk is ata interface ,but its controler is sata.
so in kernel config I do not use ATA ,but using sata only.

in laptop-mode ,the load/unload number freezed when I set below:

CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT=1

# Power management for HD (hdparm -B values)

BATT_HD_POWERMGMT=254
LM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254
NOLM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254

But after I add another line "LM_BATT_HD_POWERMGMT=254" , the load/unload
number increased at 12/minute .
why ? why not freeze the number ?
