Basically, laptop-mode-tools controls the kernel CPU frequency
governor settings, and cpufreqd does the same. Having both programs
control these settings is asking for trouble (I wouldn't dare to
predict which one would win), so I'd suggest using the functionality
of one or the other, but not both at the same time. I've looked at the
cpufreqd configuration file a bit, and it seems as though it allows
for a bit more control than laptop-mode-tools. If you need that kind
of control, cpufreqd is a bonus, but if you just want to set CPU
frequency scaling to "ondemand", laptop-mode-tools will do just fine!
